Happening this week (Feb 3rd edition)!

Fred’s Fish: Elizabeth Forbes
Friday, Feb 7: 10:30am-4pm
$45.00

Liz learned this technique from Fred Mullett himself and he has okayed her teaching it! The reason that Fred’s fish stamps are so notable is that he practices the ancient Japanese art of Gyotaku to get his super realistic images.

Gyotaku is a method of pressing the paint-covered “subject” onto paper… nature paints the image. Well, fortunately, we get to use the image without dealing with dead fish!

Wear old clothes &/or an apron – bleach is involved. Also, bring your stamp positioner if you have one. The goal is for you to do some practice and then have a frameable piece. Liz assures me that this technique involves many steps, but none are difficult.

Happening this week!

Stencil Techniques II: Liz Forbes:
Saturday, Nov 2: 10AM-1:30PM
$25.00

Talk about a class of opposites! Your first card is totally steampunk – very gear-full, colorful, and fun-filled. The second card is a beautiful dove, very understated in silver, gold, and white. Oh, the dove is done on worked metal. You will treasure these cards.

Stampers ALERT:  A message from Nancy!

Thursday, October 31...otherwise known as Halloween...join us for a POT LUCK and good company!  CP2 invites you to a pot luck luncheon at noon... well, starting at noon continuing on in the afternoon.  You'll find us at 4210 4th, NW and there will be a little bag of surprises for the attendees to play with!

Saturday, Nov 2, Liz Forbes will be teaching a stencil class---great techniques using a steampunk clock for the first card and a winter dove on metal for the second.

Unfortunately, Cynthia and Mark of Stamp A Mania have had to postpose their trunk show and classes and will NOT be here on Nov 9.  The November-December calendar is being rewritten and will be up soon.

The new Dia de los Muertos stamps that flew out the door have been replenished.  In talking to Linda Malcolm of Lost Coast Designs, she let me know that she's hard at work on a new CP2 class when she comes for the convention next spring...think challenge...think creativity!

Have you seen the Graphic 45 "Twelve Days of Christmas" paper?  I love the Christmas roses and the  bright plaid.

Visit soon!

Advanced Techniques with Stencils: Liz Forbes:
Saturday, Oct 5: 10 AM- 1 PM

You’ll make two very special cards. Your first card features a dark and stormy night with crows planning mischief. It entails using a stencil with embossing paste and stamping. It also has an unusual closure. This could be sent for fall, Halloween, or just because it is a cool card. (Liz wrote the message poem!)

The second card teaches stamping and embossing on ribbon. It’s a wonderful holly background with the Merry Christmas ribbon across the front.

Art Box Round Robin 2011 - Part 2

Last week, I shared a little background regarding the Art Box Round Robin 2011 and how it came to be.  If you missed that post, you can catch up here.

This week, I'm featuring another box from the exchange.  This one, a Goddess Box, created by Liz Forbes.  Here's what Liz had to say about her creation:

It was important to have a round container as a vessel for the goddesses.  Every culture in the world has goddess images, myths, beliefs, dogma - on and on.  The sacred feminine is often overlooked in our vision of God, so I try to bring a balance.  My personal belief is that God does not have a specific gender - there is a balance between masculine and feminine.  The worlds' cultures have veered towards all masculine and all feminine at one time or another.  My wish is we all find a balance within ourselves to reach for that perfect harmony with God.
I also thought it would make for creative, intellectual and fun artwork and discussions among my friends! Enjoy!
Let's take a look inside:
