Class: Witch's Apothecary Shadow Box with Arley Berryhill

This is a re-post of the class details for Arley's Witch's Apothecary class.  The original post appeared on the blog on February 27th.  This particular session is full, but Arley is offering to repeat the class on May 5th and 12th.  If you are signed up for this session, please be sure to add the requested items to your class kit.

This is a 2-day class, stretched over one week (to give you time to collect all your items).  You will make this 8" x 12" Apothecary Shadow box to hold potions, vials, diagrams, ornaments, bones, photos & amulets for the witch in you.

1st class Arley will lead you in painting & decorating the shadow box.

2nd class Arley will show you how to add all the extras that go inside.

Supplies needed - please bring (1st class):
Acrylic paints
Paint brushes
Water cup
Scissors
Glue (for paper)
Tweezers
Plus, if you have them: an assortment of "Distress Inks", a blending tool, a few halloween stamps, and gel medium, --if you don't want to share in class.

(The box is designed to hang on the wall.  If you want it to stand, you might want to bring some "legs" - wooden beads or TH's metal foundation feet)

Class Kit (provided by Arley) includes:
wooden shadow box, decorative papers, textured paper & gauze, gel medium, 6 glass bottles, skulls, potion labels, hang tags, witch & vintage medical ephemera, various "ingredients", & assorted knick-knacks to add to the box.

Sign up early, as class is limited to 10 students and this one will fill up fast!  CLASS IS FULL!

Visit Arley's blog to see more pictures of this project and his other fabulous works!

March 31st and April 7th (2 Saturdays, a week apart) - 1:00pm to 4:00pm (class fee is $50 and covers both days)

Class: Alice's Adventures with Cheryl Valadez

Join me Saturday afternoon and we'll create 2 whimsical Alice in Wonderland themed cards that are sure to put a smile on your face.  These colorful cards feature new images from a fabulous Canadian stamp company called Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps.  You've seen these wonderful images showcased all over the Internet and now they've arrived at CP2 for your stamping pleasure.

Lots of Copic coloring make these cards bright and cheerful, and stamped backgrounds give them interest.  Add some fun trim, a few embellishments, a couple of good quotes and Alice is ready to start her adventure.

Bring your class kit and your favorite brown Distress Ink pad (Vintage Photo or Gathered Twigs).  If you have Copic markers, please bring them, and if you don't, not to worry, I'm happy to share mine.  Just make sure that all of your markers and supplies have your name on them.

Copic Colors Used

Alice:  skin (E11, E000, E00, R20), hair (E15, E13, Y21, Y00 or Y11), dress (B06, B04, B02, B01, B000, B0000), stockings (C3, C1, C00, R59, R29, R22, R21)

Class: Fulfilled in Life with Shay Silva

Now teaching classes at China Phoenix 2...Shay Silva!  You know her and love her from the many classes she takes at CP2, and no doubt you have worked alongside her at some point during a class.  She's always quick to assist her classroom neighbors and now she's bringing that knowledge to the other side of the classroom dynamic by teaching!

Shay's first class features exquisite die cuts using a couple of Tim Holtz' Alteration dies combined with a faux metal finish for texture and depth.  The beautiful handmade butterfly embellishment replicates an expensive adornment found in craft specialty stores.  Showcase these elements against a handstamped/embossed background and you have an amazing art piece to share or keep for yourself.

In addition to your class kit, feel free to bring the following tools if you have them...

Glossy Accents
Adirondack Dabbers in Copper, Silver, Pitch Black
Foam tape / dimensional pop dots
Distress Ink in Vintage Photo, Peeled Paint

March 17th, Saturday:  10:00am - 12:00pm (class fee is $25.00)
