Happening this week!

Stencil Techniques II: Liz Forbes:
Saturday, Nov 2: 10AM-1:30PM

Talk about a class of opposites! Your first card is totally steampunk – very gear-full, colorful, and fun-filled. The second card is a beautiful dove, very understated in silver, gold, and white. Oh, the dove is done on worked metal. You will treasure these cards.

Stampers ALERT:  A message from Nancy!

Thursday, October 31...otherwise known as Halloween...join us for a POT LUCK and good company!  CP2 invites you to a pot luck luncheon at noon... well, starting at noon continuing on in the afternoon.  You'll find us at 4210 4th, NW and there will be a little bag of surprises for the attendees to play with!

Saturday, Nov 2, Liz Forbes will be teaching a stencil class---great techniques using a steampunk clock for the first card and a winter dove on metal for the second.

Unfortunately, Cynthia and Mark of Stamp A Mania have had to postpose their trunk show and classes and will NOT be here on Nov 9.  The November-December calendar is being rewritten and will be up soon.

The new Dia de los Muertos stamps that flew out the door have been replenished.  In talking to Linda Malcolm of Lost Coast Designs, she let me know that she's hard at work on a new CP2 class when she comes for the convention next spring...think challenge...think creativity!

Have you seen the Graphic 45 "Twelve Days of Christmas" paper?  I love the Christmas roses and the  bright plaid.

Visit soon!

Star book of Blessings: Nancy Yoshimoto
Wednesday, Oct 2: 1PM-4PM:

Nancy loves making books, especially sewn star books. Another great love of hers is Irish Blessings. She has quite a collection of Irish blessing stamps and what a great way to enjoy them. We're sure you’ll agree. This class will meet on at least 3 Wednesday Afternoons.

Advanced Techniques with Stencils: Liz Forbes:
Saturday, Oct 5: 10 AM- 1 PM

You’ll make two very special cards. Your first card features a dark and stormy night with crows planning mischief. It entails using a stencil with embossing paste and stamping. It also has an unusual closure. This could be sent for fall, Halloween, or just because it is a cool card. (Liz wrote the message poem!)

The second card teaches stamping and embossing on ribbon. It’s a wonderful holly background with the Merry Christmas ribbon across the front.

This book has space between the pages so you can use it for your deeply layered images. Nancy has a number of the Jumbo Flower stamps from Stampendous! that just beg to be layered. Class: The Book Reconstructed with Juliana Coles

The Book Reconstructed: Juliana Coles:
July 27: 2-5PM

Your creativity will soar in this fun and fast paced book making workshop created by Juliana Coles! Book Reconstruction will begin with the removal of the pages or guts of a found book. We then rebuild her from recycled remnants and scraps to create a unique artist book, not merely altered, but fully reconstructed. Each page will be created from scraps of paper taped, stitched, and stapled together in a collaboration that allows us to give up perfection in favor of play and experimentation! Participants receive a free workbook with full instructions on the Reconstruction Process.

Workshop Supplies:
You will need: A hardbound found book (or 2 or 3!) to create your Reconstruction Journal. Choose one that appeals to you- any size larger than 6“ x 9” and any thickness not less than ¾ and not thicker than 2”. Altering a book will be more fun for this process but any book will do! You can use an old or new book, one you found at a library sale or thrift store, or you can also use a blank journal or sketchbook – but no spiral bound please!

Mixed Media Materials:
Feel free to bring a few of your favorite supplies or your mini traveling mixed media tool kit, though we may not have time for them!
You will definitely need:
Gluesticks (1-2 good quality big ones - don‘t bother with the little ones)
Scissors (also fancy edged scissors and hole punches if you have them)
Self healing cutting board
12 inch metal cork backed ruler
utility knife or exacto
a pen or pencil for measuring
At least 2 different kinds of tape such as clear, masking tape, or washi tape in different
colors/thicknesses (if you don’t have any tape don’t worry- I’ll be bringing my amazing
tape collection for you to experiment with!)
Alternative attachment methods such as; stapler, wire, doll needles and thread, brads, etc.
And things can get messy so please bring an apron!

Each student will be required to bring an “Alchemy Bag.”
A plastic grocery bag or smaller will do. Some suggestions are random collage items, paper, stickers from when you were 14, artist tools and supplies you no longer use or never liked, ribbon, torn up pieces of your artwork that didn’t work out (no recognizable artwork, please) old postcards, books to cut up, magazines, office supplies, sticks, you get the picture-sort of an ephemera grab bag. We will be using these Alchemy Bags as part of our mixed media paper making assignment! What, and how much to bring, is up to you. Don’t worry about trying to include nice things- we’re looking more for garbage items. We all ready have our own nice supplies-we want your cast offs to really make us think!

Email Juliana Coles with any questions or concerns:

It's a BIG weekend for China Phoenix 2!

There are lots of things happening this weekend at the store that you won't want to miss!

Stampers, There are two classes following the convention that take advantage of out-of-town talent AND give you two more shopping opportunities. (You don't have to take a class to visit any of the three trunk shows!)

The only cost is the stamps you purchase!

ATC Dolly: Linda Malcom: Monday, March 11: 10 AM- 4 PM..................................$35.00
Linda loves Albuquerque, New Mexico stampers, and visiting with CP2 customers. To that end, she is offering this class that you can make your own. Come for an hour or two, come for the day! She's bringing the ATC boxes for the body and all sorts of things for the appendages. You'll need your tools and various types of adhesives. If you want your dolly to be the Stitchery Princess (for example), you might bring ephemera related to sewing - get the picture. I hope to see you Monday; there are class spaces available. As you probably know by now, fun follows Linda like a Shadow!
STAMPLAND TRUNK SHOW: Tueday, March 12: 1:00 PM- 4PM
The only cost will be your purchases.

Taping 101: Darlene Gaglione: Tuesday, March 12: 1 PM - 3 PM................................$25.00
Don't miss this class!Darlene and Picasso are the owners of Chicago's Stampland. This is the first time they've come to the Albuquerque Convention and we want them to return! I'd love to send you to their website, but unfortunately it's down with a virus. They have numerous classic images - from beautiful ladies to Catrina.
This is a Techniques Workshop; this is not intended to be a class of making two or three cards - this is to get you thinking and using your stamps and tools in a new way.
Several of you have asked for more info on Mary Jo McGraw's class on Friday. It starts at 10 AM, costs $45.00, and goes to the end of the day or you throw in the towel. You should bring a book to use for an altered book (remember that there are some freebies in the recycle baskets), a journal (she recommends one from Strathmore), your regular class kit, and colored sharpies or Copics if you have them.  She's bringing Pan Pastels and plenty of other goodies!

On your visit to CP2, remember to check out the up-coming class samples, especially those on Friday and Saturday, the 15 &16.
