Happening this week!

Gelli Plates with Acrylics and Stencils
Sue Rosenberg
Friday, March 28
10 AM - 2 PM
$20

Sue writes:  We will be working with 6X6, 8X10, and 8" circular Gelli Plates, happily and messily doing what I call "fingerpainting with brayers," applying layers of acrylic paints, stenciling, etc.  It will be crazy and so much fun!  These prints can then be used as backgrounds for cards, journals, altered books, and many other mixed media projects.  I will do demos and work with all of you individually; we should have time to create at least a couple of cards.  Bring an apron or something else to keep your clothing safe (forget about your hands!) and your class kit--I will provide everything else.  Class size is limited to six.

Photos:  Circle pic is one layer; butterfly woman is two layers; woman outline is three layers.

A Day of Creative Inspiration (& trunk show): Linda Malcom:
Monday, March 10: 10AM-3:30PM
$50.00

The stamps from Lost Coast Designs foster creativity. Linda will be teaching us to find and grab our creativity from even very mundane sources! I can hardly wait. Having her samples here, will stretch our minds and, of course, our minds need exercise, too. Here’s what Linda says:

Release your Inner Child with a day of drawing whimsical animals inspired by the lines and shapes around us. We'll use photocopies of cracks and blobs and splats to get you started, as well as some quick exercises. You'll picture animals in an entirely new way.

Bring your favorite coloring tools, a fine black marker (I like Farber Pitt or Micron), a mixed media drawing pad in the size you like to work (NOT a sketch pad). I'll bring some sheets of mixed media paper if you don't have any.

I've used a combination of Panpastels, Copics, and colored pencils  I'll bring all of these so everyone could try some new coloring techniques I've learned lately. If Copics are your favorites, please, make sure you’ve labeled them with your name.

Happening this week (Feb 3rd edition)!

Fred’s Fish: Elizabeth Forbes
Friday, Feb 7: 10:30am-4pm
$45.00

Liz learned this technique from Fred Mullett himself and he has okayed her teaching it! The reason that Fred’s fish stamps are so notable is that he practices the ancient Japanese art of Gyotaku to get his super realistic images.

Gyotaku is a method of pressing the paint-covered “subject” onto paper… nature paints the image. Well, fortunately, we get to use the image without dealing with dead fish!

Wear old clothes &/or an apron – bleach is involved. Also, bring your stamp positioner if you have one. The goal is for you to do some practice and then have a frameable piece. Liz assures me that this technique involves many steps, but none are difficult.

Happening this week!

Class Journal: Nancy Y:
Wednesday, Jan 15: 1:30-4:00 PM….$27.50 and.....
Saturday, February 1: 10:30 AM-1:30 PM
$27.50

If you missed the first class, be sure and catch it this go round. You will use the Zutter Bind-It-All for a sturdy wire binding and washi paper for the cover.  There will be both black and white interior pages. Obviously, you can use your journal as you wish.

Nancy designed it to be a journal for taking class notes and says "I don’t know about you, but I like taking notes in class to aid my memory when I want to repeat a technique. Unfortunately, I have never been really systematic about this and I’ve written notes on whatever was at hand and they’ve never been collected into one folder or book."

This journal is planned so that you can put your sample made in class on a black page and write your notes on the white. There will also be a couple of pocket pages for hand-outs.

Happening this week...

Hearts A’Plenty: Rhenea Yontz:
Wednesday, Jan 22: 1:00 – 4:00 PM and...
Saturday, Jan 25: 10:30-1:30PM
$27.50

Rhenea has become quite the Stencil Queen as you can see from these beautiful Valentine cards ( at least one could also be a Mother’s Day or birthday card.) All of the stencils used are from DreamWeaver. If you have the stencils, bring them. The stencils will be available for purchase… the first one is 15% off, the second is 18% off, and all other stencils or stencil paste will be 20% off. It’s no problem if you don’t have and don’t want the stencils, you will use Rhenea’s.

Again, this is the same class being offered twice to (hopefully) work for your schedule.
